Lumina Cloudinfra a data center platform owned and managed by Blackstone’s Real-Estate and Tactical Opportunities Opportunities funds, plans to invest more than $300mn or around Rs 2,500 crs to develop a hyperscale data center campus in Navi Mumbai’s Airoli locality.
This will be Luminia Cloudinfra’s maiden data center investment in India which is expected to drive the US-based institutional investor’s efforts to deepen its data center presence in Asia.
The Airoli data center, with capacity of over 60 MW of critical IT load, will be set-up on 6.3 acre land parcel in two phases. The first phase of construction is expected to commence soon and is likely to be completed by 2025.
“India is a high-growth market with data centre demand expected to significantly increase driven by rapidly growing data consumption the digitisation of the economy the onset of 5G and data localisation trends. Our first data center is an important milestone for Lumina and India’s digital journey,” said Anil Reddy, Global Chief Executive Officers & Co-Founder, Lumina CloudInfra.
The company is also looking to set up its second data center in Navi Mumbai’s Mahape locality. “There is tremendous demand for data centers in India which is a hub for many leading technology and information technology services companies. With our business plan we are bringing an innovative mission-critical data infrastructure to India and supporting the country’s digital transformation,” said Sujeet Deshpande, CEO & Co-Founder, Lumina India.
