CBRE Rolls Out Pan-India CSR Program CBRE Cares ‘Ek Pehal’

CBRE South Asia Pvt. Ltd announced the launch of its pan-India rollout of CSR initiative for construction workers along with the leading NGOs of the country. As part of the engagement, CBRE has partnered with Plan India, Wockhardt Foundation, and Save the Children, India to execute the CSR initiative across construction clusters in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai.

The CSR initiative was inaugurated by Anshuman Magazine, Chairman & CEO - India, South-East Asia, Middle East & Africa, CBRE. As part of the rollout pan-India initiative, CBRE has engaged Plan India for the Greater Noida and Hyderabad region, while the project has been simultaneously mobilized with Wockhardt in Mumbai and Chennai, and Save the Children in Delhi & Gurgaon, serving lakhs of construction workers in these cities.

It is estimated that crores of workers are engaged in the construction segment across the country, and this initiative will aim to bring a positive change in their lives. The announcement is part of CBRE Cares - 'Ek Pehal', the firm's corporate philanthropy program in India that has pledged its efforts to address the health and nutrition-related concerns of migrant laborer and their families across various cities in the country.

The programme ‘Ek Pehal’ has been designed to bridge the gap. As part of this initiative, CBRE will run MHUs and set up medical camps around construction clusters across major metro cities throughout the year. The partnership entails quality health consultation and assistance by medical professionals with a focus on free health consultations, nutritional advice, an awareness session on personal protection and safety session on COVID, family planning, menstrual hygiene, and sanitation practices.

As part of this partnership, medical staff will travel to conduct on-site health camps - offering free health check-ups for the construction workers and their families. This section of the population was one of the worst affected during the COVID lockdown, while the impact may have mellowed down and the construction activity has gained momentum, concern about the health and security of the workers persists.

Citing the purpose of this initiative, Anshuman Magazine, Chairman & CEO - India, South-East Asia, Middle East & Africa, CBRE, said, “At CBRE, our values and culture are defined by our commitment to support the communities around us. We endeavor to create a positive impact in the ecosystem we operate, and with CBRE Cares – ‘Ek Pehal’ initiative, we hope to bring about a social change and impact in the lives of the needy. Health is one of the community's major concerns, and by engaging with stakeholders, we wish to make a difference in the lives of these thousands of workers in the first phase of the program.”

“Our MHUs will travel to construction sites to support migrant workers and their families with health and nutritional services, basic education, and information on sanitation practices. This initiative is estimated to impact thousands of construction workers and their families residing in the major construction clusters in Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Chennai. We have partnered with India’s renowned NGOs to adopt an inclusive approach to drive health awareness among this population category. I firmly believe this initiative will go a long way in educating the families and community on good health practices.” he added.
