Brookfield Properties Recycles 1.7 Tonnes E-Waste to Bring Focus to Electronic Waste

Brookfield Properties takes the lead in creating art with 1.7 tonnes of e-waste at its Worldmark Aerocity and Gurugram properties to bring attention to electronic waste. Renowned scrap artist Zakir Khan was onboarded to curate the upcycled installation for this initiative.

Various installations like the Map of India, a Cage and a lit structure depicting the 75th Year of Independence have been showcased. These have been created with the use of scrap metal as the main element for the upcycled art. It also includes objects like cycle chains, bike gears, metal wheel rims, corrugated sheets and various other screws, nuts and metallic articles. The use of colors and lighting techniques leave a lasting impact on the viewer.

Expressing his views Alok Agarwal, MD & CEO, Brookfield Properties said, “Reducing waste from our operations waste from landfill is a key element of our strategy to reduce our environmental impacts.  Recycling e-waste is a key step to help the circular economy and this innovative approach not only creates environmental awareness but also helps in finding a good use for unwanted materials.”

The renowned artist from the All India Fine Arts & Craft Society (AIIFACS) has previously displayed work at other prominent developments. The scrap art exhibit can be viewed at Worldmark Aerocity and Gurugram from August 6 to 21 by the public in addition to being viewed virtually on social media handles.
