‘Smaram’ designers Tony Joseph, George Seemon, and partners, known for their multi-disciplinary award-winning design practices, have launched the furniture line ‘Smaram’. The series draws inspiration from the materials around us, crafting them into beautiful works of art.
Every creation at Smaram has a story and history, which begins with reclaimed wood and vintage elements that undergo unique design transformations to become one-of-a-kind furniture and household pieces. The collection includes Bhojan, Aduku, Asthiti, Samanya, Pidi, Arah, and Yug.
“The idea of memories or recollections, or ‘Smaram’ is at the very heart of the brand. The products honor their former materiality while assuming new shapes and roles. Each work delicately strikes a balance between the previous and the present, between the told and untold stories. Reclaimed wood and other salvaged materials have already lived for 100 years, and Smaram wants to give them another chance. Taking forward our inherent values of sustainability, we've tried to reduce the need for new materials; instead, trying to conserve, preserve, and breathe new life into the old.” said Tony Joseph, Founder, of Smaram.
