The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has rolled out an official chatbot service to provide residents with verified property tax-related information via calls and text messages. The initiative aims to streamline communication around outstanding dues, payment options, submission deadlines, and government concessions, while shielding citizens from rising fraud attempts.
All messages will be dispatched from the designated number 8048637474, with officials urging residents to recognize it as an authorized MCG channel. The launch follows a surge in complaints about fraudulent calls demanding bill payments and coercing residents into downloading suspicious apps or making immediate transfers.
Additional Commissioner Yash Julka called the chatbot a “crucial step toward greater transparency and digital empowerment,” reinforcing MCG’s commitment to secure, citizen-friendly governance.
