The Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd. (SECI), operating under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), has formalised its leadership structure with the appointment of Shri Akash Tripathi, IAS (MP:1998), as Managing Director. His appointment, approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), places him in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary to the Government of India.
Shri Santosh Sarangi, IAS, Secretary, MNRE, will continue to serve as Chairman of SECI, ensuring strategic oversight and continuity in governance. This dual leadership model is designed to strengthen institutional accountability and accelerate execution across SECI’s expanding portfolio.
Commenting on the development, Shri Sarangi said, “SECI operates at the core of India’s renewable energy implementation. Shri Tripathi’s appointment brings dedicated leadership for execution at scale, tighter institutional coordination, and delivery across emerging priorities like green hydrogen, energy storage, and green energy projects. This dual structure reflects the Ministry’s approach to enablement and accountability.”
SECI, a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise, plays a pivotal role in implementing India’s renewable energy ambitions. It is the designated agency for competitive bidding and project development across solar, wind, hybrid, offshore wind, energy storage, and green hydrogen segments.
With Shri Tripathi’s induction, SECI is expected to sharpen its operational focus and drive forward India’s clean energy transition with renewed momentum.
