Visakhapatnam is set to finalise a new city master plan within the next four months, with a vision that spans 30 years. According to municipal administration and urban development minister P Narayana, the plan aims to tackle key urban issues and promote sustainable development in the city.
Narayana revealed that the previous master plan, developed under the YSRCP government, had been criticised for not considering public input. The new plan, however, will be revised to prioritise the needs and feedback of residents, with the final document being made available online for public access and review.
Several key initiatives will be part of the new plan, including road expansions to accommodate the upcoming Bhogapuram International Airport, the integration of the metro rail project, and a special initiative addressing TDR bonds. The minister also promised to collaborate with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to resolve the ongoing drinking water shortages, which have been a long-standing issue in the city.
The updated master plan is expected to provide a comprehensive solution to Visakhapatnam’s urban challenges, focusing on sustainable growth and infrastructure development for the future.
