Minimalist Hotels, India’s leading lifestyle hospitality brand, has unveiled its ambitious plan to expand its footprint with 20 new hotels over the next two years. With plans to raise INR 20 crore for this phase of growth, the expansion marks a significant milestone for the Lifestyle brand as it sets out to reinvent hospitality in the mid-market segment across some of India’s most dynamic and culturally rich destinations, including Varanasi, NCR, Rajasthan, Goa, Mumbai, Uttarakhand and Chandigarh.
This strategic growth comes when the broader Indian hotel market is projected to expand from USD 15.67 billion in 2024 to USD 22.41 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 9.32%, according to Research and Markets. Boutique and mid-scale lifestyle hotels, particularly in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities, are expected to be major growth drivers, fuelled by increased domestic tourism, rising disposable incomes, and the growing preference for Bleisure (business + leisure) travel.
Minimalist Hotels currently operates across a total built-up area of 2,00,000 sq. ft. With this new expansion, an additional 7,00,000 sq. ft. will be added, resulting in a future portfolio spanning approximately 10 Lac/1 Million sq. ft. This rapid scale-up is supported by a robust investment in strengthening operational systems and building a solid corporate framework capable of managing the expanded footprint.
Each new property will maintain the brand’s signature Japandi-inspired aesthetic—blending Japanese minimalism with Scandinavian functionality—to offer guests tranquil, stylish spaces that embody simplicity and smart design.
In line with evolving traveller expectations, the brand hosts a range of curated community events, including DJ-led music nights, European-style coffee raves, fitness-focused run clubs in Goa, and co-working hubs that support workations. These initiatives reflect Minimalist’s deep understanding of the modern traveller's desire for purposeful stays, immersive social experiences, and personal wellbeing.
The brand has hosted over 1,50,000 guests across all its locations over the past seven years, reflecting the growing trust and affinity among modern travellers for Minimalist’s unique hospitality experience. A strong emphasis is placed on hiring local talent—50% of the staff across properties are local hires, which not only supports regional economies but also ensures that hospitality is rooted in cultural familiarity and authenticity.
A key differentiator for the brand is FIKA Coffee Co., its co-branded in-house café. With a consistent interior identity and a locally adapted menu at every location, FIKA offers an evolving culinary experience that balances brand consistency with regional expression.
Commenting on the expansion, Gautam Munjal, CEO of Minimalist Hotels, said, “At Minimalist Hotels, our vision is to redefine the lifestyle hotel experience by blending minimalism with design, functionality, and local culture with global sensibilities. With the steady growth in tourism, we see a meaningful opportunity to extend our presence and offer thoughtfully curated hospitality to more travellers seeking comfort, authenticity, and a sense of connection.”
With tourism in India booming and experiential travel taking center stage, Minimalist Hotels is poised to meet the evolving needs of new-age travellers. Its expansion strategy aims to build a network of culturally immersive and design-forward properties that serve as sanctuaries for rest, creativity, and meaningful connections.
