The Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA) has uncovered widespread irregularities in the city’s housing sector, identifying 137 residential schemes operating without proper approval. After a legal audit, only 43 of these projects have completed the necessary procedures to obtain official sanction. The remaining 94 schemes are still considered illegal and face potential regulatory action.
Officials have warned that these unapproved projects pose risks to homebuyers, including lack of infrastructure, legal disputes, and resale complications. HDA has advised citizens to verify project approvals through official channels before making any property investments. The authority is also planning awareness drives to educate buyers on due diligence.
Developers of the illegal schemes may face penalties, public notices, and possible blacklisting if they fail to regularize their projects. HDA is expected to intensify inspections and tighten enforcement to curb unauthorized construction and protect consumer interests.
