Design, at its core, is an act of storytelling—and at Ameet Mirpuri Design Studio, we view every project as a canvas to narrate meaningful, personal, and context-driven stories. Whether it’s a private home, a boutique hotel, or a retail destination, our design philosophy is grounded in empathy, authenticity, and functionality. We approach every space with the belief that it should not only be beautiful but should also resonate emotionally and function intelligently.
What sets your work apart?
What sets our work apart is a commitment to understated elegance—a quiet confidence that allows materials, proportions, and light to take center stage. Rather than follow trends, we aim to create timeless spaces that reflect the identity of those who inhabit them. We’re not interested in loud statements or fleeting aesthetics. Instead, we strive for a refined balance—spaces that feel lived-in yet elevated, rooted yet progressive.
Our process always begins with listening. We believe design is a collaborative dialogue, not a top-down prescription. Understanding how a client moves, lives, and feels in a space is integral to how we shape it. Every decision—from the layout to the materials—is an outcome of that understanding. Aesthetics, in our view, are a natural evolution of function. We ask: how can a space serve better, and how can it do so with grace and beauty?
At Ameet Mirpuri Design Studio, we don’t just design for the moment—we design for life. Each project is an invitation to pause, feel, and connect. Through thoughtful spatial narratives, sustainable choices, and a deep respect for cultural relevance, we aim to create environments that are not only visually compelling but also emotionally enduring—spaces that breathe, belong, and become part of the user’s journey.
How do you integrate design sustainability & Indian ethos?
Sustainability is not a design layer we add—it is embedded in our thinking from day one. We consciously choose materials that are local, durable, and low-impact. We often work with lime plaster, reclaimed timber, handmade tiles, and natural stone—not just for their ecological value but also for their timeless appeal. Longevity, to us, is the ultimate form of sustainability. A well-designed space should evolve with its users, not become irrelevant in a few years.
As Indian designers with a contemporary lens, we are constantly in conversation with our cultural context. We draw from India’s deep well of craft, climate-responsive architecture, and vernacular spatial intelligence—not by mimicking it, but by reinterpreting it in ways that feel modern and globally attuned. Our work frequently engages with artisans—not as vendors but as co-creators. Whether it’s a handwoven textile, brass inlay, or terracotta surface, these elements aren’t just decorative—they are bearers of tradition, memory, and meaning.
This nuanced integration of craft and technology, heritage and innovation, is where we believe the future of Indian design lies. As the world becomes increasingly homogenized, the need to develop a design language that is uniquely Indian yet globally relevant becomes even more urgent. We believe in crafting environments that respond intelligently to their cultural, climatic, and emotional context.
Has the post pandemic design & architecture changed?
The post-pandemic world has made us even more mindful of how spaces impact well-being. We now place greater emphasis on spatial flow, biophilic design, multi-functional areas, and hybrid environments that support both work and rest. Design today must address the full spectrum of human experience—not just the visual, but also the tactile, acoustic, and emotional.
We’re also excited about exploring new frontiers in materials and experiences—tactile finishes, adaptive reuse, natural composites, and immersive storytelling through space. But innovation, in our eyes, doesn’t always have to mean tech-forward. Sometimes, it’s as simple as bringing back a courtyard that cools a home naturally or incorporating an ancestral element that brings comfort and continuity to a family.
