Realty+ Tête-à-Tête with Ar Gyanendra Singh Shekhawat

How does IDEAS balance modern development and Rajasthan’s architectural heritage?

At IDEAS, the balance lies in a sensitive design approach that respects the essence of heritage while embracing the needs of contemporary living. We integrate traditional materials like lime plaster, stone, and handmade tiles with modern construction techniques to create spaces that are rooted in context but aligned with present-day aspirations. Our adaptive reuse strategies—especially in palaces, havelis, and colonial-era buildings—breathe new life into heritage structures, often transforming them into luxury hotels, clubs, or cultural venues. Every intervention is deeply informed by site history, climate, and craftsmanship, ensuring development doesn’t come at the cost of cultural identity.

Our core strength is narrative-led design. IDEAS stands apart for its ability to tell compelling stories through architecture—each project becomes a cultural dialogue between past and present. With over 25 years of experience across hospitality and heritage sectors, we combine architectural precision with deep-rooted knowledge of regional contexts. Whether it’s reimagining a Raj-era hunting lodge or crafting a new resort with echoes of Rajasthan’s palatial grandeur, our work is defined by authenticity, detail, and emotional resonance.

The key product brands part of region's tallest structure, the SKY 25, Pink Walk Mall

At Pink Walk Mall, the vendor selection process is currently underway, and key material and product partners are yet to be finalized.

For SKY 25, the region’s tallest structure, the following specifications reflect our commitment to quality and performance:

  • Lifts: Johnson
  • Switches & Wires: Philips and KEI respectively
  • Glass: Modi Guard
  • Tiles: Kajaria
  • Paint: Asian Paints
  • CP Fittings: CERA
  • Pumps: Wilo

Each of these was chosen for their proven reliability and alignment with the project’s technical and aesthetic requirements.

Were any external consultants, artisans, or domain experts involved?

Yes, Pink Walk Mall has benefited from the collaboration of several domain experts whose contributions have significantly shaped both the design and technical execution of the project.

  • Satatv Design Studio has led the landscape design, ensuring the open spaces are thoughtfully integrated and contextually responsive.
  • MJC has been instrumental in handling MEP services and plumbing, bringing robust technical solutions to the development.
  • Bezel Design is on board as the signage consultant, helping create a cohesive visual communication system throughout the property.
  • Don Champ is designing what is set to become India’s tallest aquarium, a key experiential element within the mall.

These collaborations reflect our commitment to engaging with specialists to elevate the project's quality, functionality, and user experience.

How does IDEAS approach adaptive reuse to maintain cultural integrity while adding functionality?

At IDEAS, adaptive reuse is treated as a form of cultural stewardship. In projects like Rambagh and Jai Mahal Palaces, we work closely with historians, artisans, and conservation experts to ensure that every intervention respects the original spirit of the architecture.

Rather than overwriting the past, we build around it—retaining key heritage elements like frescoes, jharokhas, and stone jaalis, while sensitively introducing modern amenities required for contemporary hospitality. From discreet service corridors to updated MEP systems and carefully integrated lighting, every layer is designed to enhance guest experience without disrupting the building’s historical narrative.

The goal is always the same: to make heritage live again—not as a museum, but as a vibrant, functional, and emotionally resonant space.
