Finland's Salcomp, a supplier to iPhone maker Apple, is planning to double its headcount in India to 25,000 over the next three years. The company is also planning to build a housing complex with facilities like entertainment and education for around 15,000 employees.
Another Apple supplier in India, Foxconn is also planning to increase its workforce at its iPhone factory over the next two years. In the past six months, Foxconn had been active in India, from executive visits to increased investments, showing that India is a crucial part of Foxconn's global production deployment.
Apple is keen to expand its production capacity outside of China and India is a popular choice for it in view of cheaper manpower availability and domestic market scale.
