The Sustainable City - Yiti, the first city in the region committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2040, recently marked a significant milestone with the ceremony of its new hotel. This development aligns with the city's vision to create a sustainable, live-work-thrive community while supporting Oman's Vision 2040.
The event was attended by senior representatives from Diamond Developers, Oman Tourism Development Company (OMRAN Group), and other key stakeholders to celebrate the commencement of construction. The 4-star property will feature 203 keys, including guest rooms, suites, and wheelchair-accessible rooms. The hotel will feature a range of facilities, including restaurants, a fitness club, a spa and wellness centre, two meeting rooms and more.
"We are excited to break ground on this significant development, an integral part of our strategy to position The Sustainable City - Yiti as a world-class destination and a hub for sustainable living," said Mahmoud Shehada, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer at The Sustainable City – Yiti. "This project exemplifies our commitment to delivering sustainability-focused infrastructure that serves residents and visitors. The hotel will provide premium accommodations and reinforce the city's sustainable ethos through its design, operations, and offerings."
The development will span approximately 15,748 square meters, with a built-up area of 22,266 square meters, and will blend modern design with Omani cultural influences. Eco-friendly features will be incorporated to ensure the hotel harmonises with its surroundings. This new hotel is crucial in making The Sustainable City - Yiti a vibrant and sustainable destination, supporting Oman's tourism sector, creating job opportunities, and showcasing the nation's leadership in sustainable development.
Set to begin handovers in 2026, The Sustainable City - Yiti has already sold out phase one of its residential properties. The next development phase is now underway, and once completed, the city will house around 10,000 residents and visitors, setting a regional standard for eco-friendly urban living. The city will include state-of-the-art facilities, urban farming, a central plaza with a mall, a school and nursery, an indoor sports complex, outdoor recreational activities, an equestrian centre, and an additional hotel.
