The United Arab Emirates has approved the creation of the world’s first Legislative Intelligence Office, marking a significant step towards the future of AI-integrated governance. The decision, announced by the UAE Cabinet, highlights the country’s ongoing commitment to harnessing advanced technology to streamline public administration and strengthen legislative effectiveness.
The newly established initiative will leverage artificial intelligence to reshape the way laws are created, implemented and evolved. By integrating federal and local legislation, judicial decisions, executive processes, and public services into a single digital ecosystem, the platform aims to create a smarter, faster and more responsive legislative framework.
One of the standout features of this AI-powered system is its capacity to analyse the real-time impact of laws on society and the economy. It will proactively suggest legal amendments, identify potential gaps and align UAE regulations with global standards and best practices.
Officials anticipate that the technology will accelerate legislative development by up to 70 per cent, significantly reducing the time and resources traditionally required to draft and update laws. This digital transformation is expected to enhance the UAE’s global competitiveness, making its legal system more agile in response to emerging challenges.
The initiative will also pave the way for new AI-driven legal roles, such as digital legislative researchers, editors and compliance monitors. These tools will support a new generation of legal professionals equipped with advanced skills in legislative intelligence and innovation.
