Holi-Ready Homes: Stylish Yet Practical

One of the most thrilling occasions of the year is the vibrant festival of Holi. It marks the beginning of spring, bringing a lot of love and warmth to homes. It is a celebration where boundaries blur, laughter echoes through courtyards, and even the most neutral-toned homes momentarily become a canvas of vibrant expression. Your home can be transformed into something unique by integrating appropriate decor pieces like vibrant accents and festive decorations. But ensure this decoration and the lively festival does not create a mess is essential.

Temporary Yet Tasteful Covers for Furnishings

Your upholstery and curtains are most vulnerable during Holi. Rather than clearing everything away, style your home with Holi-specific layers. For instance, invest in a set of colourful throws or old dupattas to drape over your outdoor furniture. Opt for traditional Rajasthani prints or bright cotton covers that blend with Holi’s vibrant spirit. These covers can be washed and reused for future festivals or transformed into picnic mats or quirky upholstery elements.

Safeguarding the Flooring

Powder colours and wet splashes don’t bode well for porous stone flooring. To avoid a mess, lay tarpaulin sheets on the flooring or even clear plastic mats in places where wet colours might be used. You can also use colourful dhurries, which bring a rustic charm to your home while providing protection. Moreover, you can also replace them with washable cotton varieties in festive colours.

Wall Protection- Thoughtful and Artful

Wall stains are the biggest post-Holi regret. But they can be easily avoided without making your home look messy. You can temporarily hang large tapestries or even bedsheets with folk art patterns on the walls of your Holi zones. These shield your paint from accidental splashes and give the space a festival-appropriate bohemian makeover. You can also consider washable or scrubbable wall paint finishes for areas frequently used for celebrations.

Outdoor Holi Setup

Holi is best celebrated outdoors, and your garden can become the highlight of your celebration. Use eco-friendly bunting made from cloth scraps, paper streamers, and fairy lights to decorate your space. Hang dreamcatchers or colourful umbrellas together to create a festive canopy. Set up a temporary water station or colour station using rustic wooden crates or plastic tubs styled with vibrant cloth.

Holi is about togetherness, shared joy, and the spirit of letting go. So, this Holi, don’t hold back; celebrate freely. Let your home shine just as brightly- before, during, and after the festival!
