HOW TO MAKE COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS MORE ENERGY EFFICIENT

In today's world, it is more important than ever to find ways and strategies to reduce our carbon footprint and conserve energy. Large commercial buildings consume a large amount of energy which can create a hole in your pocket, but there are steps that can be taken to make these buildings more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly.

Conduct an Energy Audit: The first step towards making your building more energy efficient is to conduct an energy audit. Now, you must be wondering what is that? Well, an energy audit is an inspection survey and a study of energy flows for energy conservation in a building. It will uncover the areas of waste and provide a roadmap for making improvements.

Install Energy-Efficient Lighting: If you want to make your large commercial building energy efficient then it’s time to replace your incandescent lights with LED or CFL bulbs. They consume less energy and last longer than standard bulbs.

Improve HVAC System: HVAC stands for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system which is a must in every commercial building. Although, HVAC systems consume a substantial amount of energy in any property structure. Therefore, upgrading to more energy-efficient systems can save a significant amount of energy.

Implement Smart Building Automation Systems: In this modern age, everything has become tech-friendly and real estate assets are no different. Many builders are now focusing to make smart homes or smart buildings to meet the rising expectations of modern-age buyers. You can also install a building automation system in your commercial property which will help in the management and optimization of energy consumption.

Make Use of Natural Light: Natural light is free and abundant. Increase the amount of light entering your building by using windows and skylights.

Improve the Building Envelope: The building envelope (i.e. the walls, roof, windows, and doors) is crucial to saving energy in the large commercial buildings. Upgrades like insulation, weatherstripping, and air leak sealing can make a big difference.

Use Renewable Energy: Consider using renewable energy sources to create electricity for the building, such as solar system or wind power. This will not only help you in making your property energy efficient but you can also save a big amount of money.

Use Energy-Efficient Appliances and Equipment: Encourage residents to switch off lights and equipment when not in use, and to use energy-efficient appliances and equipment.
