IMMINENT TO RECOVER POTABLE WATER FROM WASTEWATER

The only way forward for our cities to achieve water sustainability is by recovering potable quality water from wastewater. Every apartment will have excess STP treated water which is typically drained in large quantities into the garden without realizing the actual quantity needed for the garden.

Pramuk Aqua Heights Apartments in Electronic City in Bengaluru is one of the residential communities which has opted for this solution. With over 300 flats and 1500 residents, the community was facing the problem of excess STP treated water.

Today, they convert 40,000 litres of STP treated water into clean water every day. Once the apartment uses the STP treated water for internal purposes such as maintenance and gardening, the excess STP treated water is converted to high quality water and then supplied to nearby industries through water tankers.

SJR Verity in Sarjapur Road is another apartment that has been recycling their water for the last several years. With over 200 flats and a population of 1000, SJR Verity converts 60,000 litres of STP treated water into clean water every day and enables the water to be useful for someone in the vicinity.
