CBRE has announced the appointment of Tom Gaffney as Head of Leasing for Asia Pacific, a role in which he will lead more than 2,000 professionals across 15 markets. The team specializes in diverse service lines including office, retail, industrial & logistics, supply chain, data centres, workplace strategy, and consulting.
With an impressive track record and deep expertise in the Asia commercial real estate market, Gaffney brings nearly three decades of experience to his new position. In his previous role as President of CBRE’s North Asia Advisory business, he successfully oversaw operations across 17 offices in mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, Macau, Taiwan, and South Korea.
Gaffney played a key leadership role in driving growth and performance in the region, collaborating closely with country heads to deliver outstanding client outcomes and reinforce CBRE’s position as a world-class organization. He also contributed significantly to cultivating a strong company culture and advancing sustainable business practices.
Prior to that, he served as Regional Managing Director for Hong Kong, where he helped build a robust real estate advisory business. Under his leadership, CBRE achieved market leadership across several areas, including Capital Markets, Investment Banking, Advisory & Transaction Services-Office, Retail and Industrial & Logistics Services, Transaction Management, and Workplace Strategy.
Before joining CBRE, Gaffney spent 13 years in various executive roles in commercial real estate across Asia Pacific, with experience in investment, asset management, commercial transactions, and advisory services in key markets such as Hong Kong SAR, Mainland China, Taiwan, Macau, Singapore, and Thailand.
His extensive regional knowledge and leadership acumen make him well-positioned to spearhead CBRE’s leasing strategy and operations across Asia Pacific, driving continued success for the company and its clients.
