The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has received a strong public response to the launch of Phase-II of its Jan Sadharan Awaas Yojana, with more than 1,000 flats booked within the first 24 hours.
According to officials, the affordable housing scheme, launched on November 8 saw immediate bookings across all flats located in Rohini, Ramgarh Colony, and Shivaji Marg. The swift uptake highlights the continued public trust and enthusiasm surrounding DDA’s efforts to provide affordable homes in the national capital.
A DDA official said, “The overwhelming response on the very first day reflects people’s confidence in the authority’s transparent and efficient housing programmes.”
Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena, who also serves as DDA Chairman, reviewed the progress of the scheme and expressed satisfaction with both its implementation and public reception. He lauded DDA’s ongoing focus on transparency, accessibility, and digital facilitation, noting that the success of the Jan Sadharan Awaas Yojana demonstrates the strong demand for affordable housing solutions among Delhi’s citizens.
Saxena also stressed the need to expand such initiatives to meet the growing housing aspirations of people from all income groups, adding that DDA’s commitment to “Housing for All” aligns closely with the city’s broader urban development goals.
Phase-II builds on earlier success
The second phase of the Jan Sadharan Awaas Yojana builds on the success of Phase-I, launched in September 2025. The first phase had offered around 1,200 affordable flats in key residential areas across Delhi. All units were booked on the very first day of opening, an early indication of how strong the city’s appetite for affordable housing remains.
Officials said Phase-II is even more ambitious, offering nearly 1,500 flats under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Low-Income Group (LIG) categories. The flats are located across well-connected and growing neighbourhoods such as Rohini, Narela, Ramgarh Colony, and Shivaji Marg, areas chosen strategically for their balance of affordability and access to city infrastructure.
Each site offers proximity to major roads, public transport, healthcare facilities, and schools, reflecting DDA’s effort to create not just affordable but also liveable communities.
Digital, transparent process
DDA has continued its push for digital transformation in housing delivery. The Jan Sadharan Awaas Yojana Phase-II features an entirely online booking and payment process, designed to simplify applications, reduce paperwork, and minimize delays. The system also improves transparency and accountability, giving buyers real-time access to availability and allocation details.
A senior official noted that this streamlined approach has played a crucial role in increasing public confidence in DDA’s housing projects. “Ease of access and transparency have become the cornerstones of our process,” the official said.
Sustaining affordable housing momentum
With both phases of the Jan Sadharan Awaas Yojana achieving full bookings within a day, DDA is now looking to expand its footprint further. The authority is evaluating new sites and exploring collaborations to deliver more affordable units in the coming years.
By combining digital innovation with strategic urban planning, DDA aims to strengthen Delhi’s affordable housing ecosystem, making home ownership more accessible while promoting balanced, sustainable city growth.
