Gujarat Govt 20% Reduction in Commercial Property Tax

The Gujarat government has decided to offer 20 per cent discount on property tax of the commercial establishments in the state. The benefit of the same can be availed by the commercial units located in the municipal corporations and municipalities in the state. According to government officials, the benefit of the scheme can be availed till August 31. So far, close to 5.88 lakh commercial establishments have taken the benefit of the 20 per cent discount scheme. The government is appealing citizens to take the advantage of this scheme before it gets over. However, the businesses are still taking time to make profits as there is hardly any turnover. As per the industry, while the discounts on the commercial tax is a welcome move, there are many who are not in the position to pay tax as there is hardly any business. It would be better that they waive off the taxes for the commercial establishments after due assessment.
