Sumit Priyani has joined Hitachi as Chief Information Officer and Executive Committee Leader for Hitachi Digital and the combined Hitachi Digital Services and GlobalLogic organisation. He will lead enterprise technology strategy, focusing on digital platform modernisation, artificial intelligence (AI), automation, cloud infrastructure, data capabilities and cyber resilience.
Priyani brings more than 25 years of global leadership experience in technology transformation, enterprise platforms and global technology operations. His expertise includes aligning technology investments with business priorities, modernising complex technology ecosystems and improving operational performance.
Before joining Hitachi, Priyani served as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at EXL, where he was also a member of the Global Leadership Council. During his tenure, he led the architecture and engineering of the EXLerate.AI platform and Cloud Centre of Excellence, modernised the company's technology ecosystem and directed global technology operations. He also oversaw technology due diligence and integration initiatives for more than a dozen acquisitions.
Earlier, Priyani served as Head of Technology at Capgemini, formerly iGATE Patni, leading technology infrastructure, operations and service delivery across multiple countries. He also held leadership positions at Genpact, formerly GECIS, and Coforge, formerly NIIT Technologies.
At Hitachi, Priyani will focus on strengthening technology capabilities and supporting business growth through AI-led transformation, data-driven decision-making and enterprise modernisation. His appointment aligns with Hitachi Digital's vision of combining digital engineering, data, AI and industry expertise to accelerate innovation and improve business outcomes.
