In meeting with Senior Officials of the housing and urban planning department, Awas Vikas Parishad and all urban development authorities, the CM said that the areas should include places like Unnao, Sitapur, Rae Bareli, Barabanki, Kanpur Nagar and Kanpur Dehat.
Lucknow and nearby areas are set to be developed on the lines of Delhi-NCR with CM Yogi Aditynath giving directions to authorities to prepare a proposal on this at the earliest. The area will be called Uttar Pradesh State Capital Region.

“State Capital Lucknow is now equipped with state of the art urban facilities. People from different cities want to come here and make it their permanent residence. The population is increasing in neighboring districts as well and there are complaints of unplanned development. After studying and discussing all the dimensions a detailed action plan should be submitted as soon as possible, “the CM said.
Another other direction he issued for the development of Lucknow, the CM said that work on the Lucknow Green Corridor should be started at the earliest. The scope of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation should be expanded and immediate action should be taken for the revitalization of wetlands in Butler Lake and CG city.
With users of the Lucknow Metro increasing the CM said that a proposal for the development of the next phase of Lucknow Metro should be prepared and presented to him. Till 2019 about 72,000 passengers were using.
In a view of Lucknow’s importance as the state capital there is no need to establish a well-equipped convention center here which can host world class events. A proposal for a project in an area of atleast 35 acres should be prepared. The utility of Avadh Shilpgram needs to be increased. He also said that the city development plans should be prepared for Lucknow, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Moradabad, Saharanpur, Jhansi, Mathura, Bareilly, Meerut, Agra, Chitrakoot, Varanasi and Prayagraj under the Leeds-2021 policy.
