A unique 11-digit number has been attributed to all land parcels in the urban and rural areas of the state with effect from Sept 19 and the data is now being shared with different government departments to prevent fraudulent land transactions.
Commonly called ‘Aadhaar for Land’ the state has readied the Unique Land Parcel Identification Number (ULPIN) for some Rs 3 crores documents, -2.62 crore 7x12 extracts, and 70 lakhs property cards in the state.
State settlements commissionerate officials have confirmed the roll-out in the state for old and new documents. The main aim of the ULPIN project is to identify every surveyed land parcel and prevent fraud. Nearly 9,000 crore numbers have been reserved for new registration. Officials from the Digital Land Record Modernisation Programme of the Revenue Department said the department had generated the requisite numbers for both urban and rural land parcels.
Around Rs 4,000 crore numbers have been reserved for rural areas and another Rs 5000 crore for urban areas for transactions in the future. The digits will be unique to an existing property. If the property changes either through sub-division or amalgamation, the ULPIN will change. The trial of change will be maintained. Along with ULPIN there are unique numbers for all 44,505 revenue villages in the state.
Additional collector and state coordinator of the digitisation section in the revenue department Sarika Narke said, “We have already shared our existing data with financial institutions, government departments, and their various directorates. Departments such as registrations, judiciary, food, and civil supplies and agriculture are among the departments that have the data. The way forward is the usage of integration capacity so that the government’s digital delivery of services takes place in a faster and more efficient manner,” she said.
