A Malaysian delegation, comprised of Members of several Malaysian firms, has expressed interest in investing up to Rs. 10,000 crore in Amaravati over the next five years, focusing on key sectors such as tourism and hospitality, education, trade and commerce, and real estate, the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) said on October 4.

Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development P. Narayana inspected the progress of ongoing capital works in Amaravati on October 3, accompanied by the visiting Malaysian team. The delegation toured the capital region to gain a first-hand understanding of the development activities taking place in the upcoming city, the APCRDA said in a release.

The visiting delegation included Selangor state executive council minister Papparayudu, Malaysian MP Ganapathi Rao, and representatives from the Malaysia–Andhra Business Chamber, among others. They met Minister P. Narayana at the state secretariat and discussed potential investment opportunities.

According to an official statement from APCRDA, the Malaysian delegation conveyed its readiness to invest around Rs. 10,000 crore across multiple sectors, particularly education, tourism, hospitality, trade, commerce, and real estate, over the next five years.

The delegation also expressed interest in facilitating technology transfer and infrastructure development, besides showing enthusiasm for projects highlighting Telugu culture and traditions.

During the visit, a representative from Cyberjaya University proposed setting up a medical university in Amaravati, while Malaysia’s Berjaya Group showed interest in establishing five-star hotels in the city.

On the occasion, Minister Narayana said tenders worth Rs. 51,000 crore had already been finalized, and construction activities were progressing swiftly. Key works underway include the Secretariat towers, Assembly, and High Court buildings, along with 4,000 residential quarters for government officials, employees, and legislators. Infrastructure works also include 360 km of trunk roads and 1,500 km of LPS roads, he added.

Principal Secretary (Municipal Administration) Suresh Kumar, APCRDA Commissioner K. Kanna Babu, and Additional Commissioner Bhargava Teja were also present during the inspection.
