In a bold reinterpretation of the modern workspace, Workshop Inc., led by Principal Designers Varun Shah and Keta Shah, today revealed their design for the new Maruti 360 office in Ahmedabad. This 3,500 sq ft space, crafted for real-estate developer Maruti Buildcon, transcends the typical office environment, blending refined minimalism with high-end practicality to create a sanctuary of calm and productivity.
The design team's vision was clear: to create an office that feels less like a workplace and more like a carefully curated second home. "I wanted to create a workspace that reveals itself slowly and sparks moments of surprise as one moves around," Varun Shah explains. This vision was realized by building upon the foundational structure by Apurva Amin Architects, which cleverly divided the space into two distinct zones around a lush, central courtyard.
The office is a testament to the power of a restrained material palette. Workshop Inc. deliberately chose black granite, walnut wood, and metal accents, complemented by a soothing grey Limocoat wall texture. This elegant, dark palette is masterfully balanced by the abundant natural light flooding in from the courtyard, creating a tranquil and sophisticated atmosphere. The result is a space that proves minimalism can be both warm and rich, even in a darker color scheme.
A Journey Through Distinct Zones
The office is a study in dual functionality, thoughtfully segmented into a public and a private zone, each with its own character and purpose.
The public zone makes a strong first impression. The reception area, a paragon of sleek minimalism, features an audacious abstract sculpture and artwork that injects a vibrant burst of color against the otherwise subdued backdrop. As visitors move through the space, they encounter fluted wooden panels and a gallery of framed pictures chronicling Maruti Buildcon's successful projects, transforming a simple passage into a narrative of the company's legacy.
The private zone offers a more secluded and intimate experience. Designed for focused work and quiet deliberation, this area houses exclusive director's cabins, a comfortable lounge, and a spacious boardroom. Here, the elegant balance of grey, metal, and wood continues, with each cabin designed for optimal organization with smart storage and ergonomic furniture. The boardroom features a slender slit window, maintaining visual connectivity without sacrificing privacy, while a separate director’s lounge provides a relaxed setting for informal conversations.
Every detail in the Maruti 360 office is a calculated masterpiece, from the bespoke furniture to the avant-garde furnishings. Workshop Inc. has created more than just an office; they have sculpted a space where beguiling materials and thoughtful design work in harmony, offering an unparalleled environment of peace, luxury, and well-being.
