Mumbai's Monarch Builders' Managing Directors arrested in cheating case

The two managing directors of Mumbai’s realty firm, Monarch Builders were arrested by the Kharghar police on Friday. The arrested accused are brothers, Hasmukh Thakur, and Gopal Thakur residing in Kesar Harmony building in Sector 6, Kharghar. While the third key accused Ashok Narayani, is still at large.

The duo was among the seven accused wanted by Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai police for cheating several home buyers and property investors after accepting booking amount. An FIR had been registered on April 24, 2017 at Kharghar police station. But the accused builders had gone absconding. The two have been remanded in police custody till Monday.

The police informed that they had received a tip off that the Thakur brothers will be coming near Hiranandani complex in sector 7, Kharghar on Friday. Accordingly, the cops laid a trap and arrested the duo.

They were wanted in a cheating case registered by a complainant Narshinha Rathod, 54, a Kharghar resident, the police informed. Rathod had alleged that he was monetarily duped to the tune of Rs 46 lakh by the managing directors and partners of Monarch Builders. In July 2013, he had given them Rs 46 lakh in cash and cheque payments, after purchasing a shop in another building in sector 18, Kharghar which was constructed by the same builders. However, the three accused along with three partners and a real estate agent, did not register the shop in the name of Rathod. Hence, he registered an FIR on April 24, 2017 at Kharghar police station.
