In its latest move, the National Association of Realtors – India (NAR-India), the apex body representing RERA-registered and licensed real estate professionals across India, has formally issued a Directive of Non-Engagement and Non-Cooperation against MagicBricks Realty Services Ltd. This unprecedented action comes in the wake of recent videos released by MagicBricks that are widely criticised across the real estate sector for disrespecting, misrepresenting, and marginalising real estate brokers despite the platform’s foundation being built on broker-generated listings and revenue.
Effective immediately, NAR-India has directed all its members to cease all listings, advertisements, and business transactions with MagicBricks and to avoid any engagement with the platform until a formal public apology and a written commitment are issued. Members are also urged to actively educate clients and consumers about the essential and regulated role of licensed brokers in the real estate industry in order to counter any misinformation.
MagicBricks has historically thrived on the contributions of real estate brokers, agents, and professionals. However, their recent marketing campaigns have crossed a line, projecting a narrative undermining the brokerage profession while continuing to profit from the same ecosystem.
NAR-India has expressed grave ethical and professional concern, calling this shift not only “commercially exploitative” but also “a betrayal of trust” by one of the country’s largest real estate platforms.
Sumanth Reddy, Chairman of NAR-India, said, “This is not just about a single campaign; it’s about years of silent undermining finally being called out. Brokers are not optional participants in Indian real estate; they are the backbone. Platforms must recognise and respect that. This directive is a collective stand for dignity, fairness, and the future of our profession.”
“We welcome innovation,” said Amit Chopra, President of NAR-India, “but misrepresentation and disrespect towards a regulated profession is unacceptable. Our community has powered this industry and platforms like MagicBricks; their recent conduct cannot go unchallenged.”
NAR-India has further called upon advertising and consumer protection regulators to assess whether such targeted, misleading campaigns would be tolerated if directed at other licensed professions, such as doctors or chartered accountants. They’ve urged oversight authorities to investigate MagicBricks’ campaigns and enforce ethical standards in real estate and digital advertising.
