The department of land records (Mahabhulekh) of Pune has decided to provide 7/12 extracts online, with digital signatures, which can be used as the official ownership document from now on.
As part of the state’s ambitious Digital India Land Records Modernisation Programme (DILRMP) to ensure transparency and reduce fraud in property deals, the drive will be initiated in 200 villages from Pune district — including Pune city and the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation limits — from August 15. This was finalised at a meeting held on Monday, between the settlement commissioner and director of land records S. Chockalingam and revenue minister Chandrakant Patil. However, the proposal was also sent to the law and judiciary department to know the legalities for using documents with digital signatures as well as computer generated documents without them.
“We will complete the digitisation in a phased manner across the state. Initially, in Pune district, we have decided to start providing digitally signed 7/12 extracts from August 15. This will be applicable in cases where the record reading (chawdi vachan) has been completed and all necessary updatation in revenue record has been done,” Chockalingam told media.
He continued, “The online copy of the 7/12 extract will also have a QR or bar code to validate its authenticity. This is a long-term mission and we are willing to start across the state in the next two-anda- half months. We have a target of 100 villages in one week. People can download their property records from two government websites — Mahabhulekh and Aaple Sarkar.”
This has come as a good news for landowners from Pune district as they no more will need to make rounds of the local talathi or any other revenue office to get the hard copy of their 7/12 extracts, which is currently mandatory to submit for any bank or court related work.
