In a powerful step towards circular design, Oorjaa, in collaboration with Godrej Lab and Conscious Collective, has launched Nexus, a groundbreaking collection that reimagines waste as a source of beauty and innovation. This unique line of handcrafted pieces invites people to rethink their relationship with discarded materials and embrace a sustainable lifestyle.
At the heart of Nexus lies a clear philosophy, to challenge the traditional linear cycle of extract, use, and discard, and instead adopt a circular approach where every material has the potential for renewal.
The collection is crafted from an unconventional palette of materials: discarded copper wire, graphite dust, synthetic varnish, banana fiber paper, and faux cement derived from quarry waste. Each piece from sculptural lights to intricate wall panels is carefully handwoven, creating jewel-like forms that blur the line between industry and craft. Porous textures and suspended rings give the collection an airy elegance while symbolizing the deep interplay between nature, creativity, and industrial progress.
“In a world where waste increases faster than nature can recover, Nexus pushes us to view discarded materials not as an end, but as the start of another story,” says Jenny Pinto, Founder of Oorjaa. “It reminds us that sustainability and beauty can exist together, woven through craft and responsibility.”
Nexus is more than just a collection; it’s a movement that challenges mindsets. By turning industrial and post-consumer waste into objects of design, it inspires people to close loops, foster innovation, and embrace sustainability as a way of life rather than an afterthought.
With Nexus, Oorjaa and Godrej Lab are not just creating products, they are sparking a dialogue about responsibility, craft, and the boundless possibilities of reimagining waste.
