The New Township Policy, 2023 announced by the Uttar Pradesh government would bring in investments, help in organised developments while also opening up new avenues for integrated township projects.
Under the new policy, there is a proposal to set up a green channel through which all approvals and objections will be issued via a single-window system. Moreover, the private developers stand to benefit from a reduction in the conversion fee for land use.
The provision for land swaps under the policy will allow for optimising land usage within the townships. Further, for townships developed in areas with a population of more than five lakh and less than 10 lakh, there will be a 25 percent rebate in the conversion fee for land use, while for areas with a population of under-five lakh, the reduction will go up to 50 percent.
Streamlining the approval process will help to expedite project timelines and deliver sustainable, affordable townships in tier-II and tier-III cities.
