Zomato’s Food to Flight Venture: Boost for Real Estate

Zomato co-founder Deepinder Goyal is stepping into aviation with LAT Aerospace, a startup focused on transforming regional air travel in India. The announcement was made by LAT Aerospace co-founder Surobhi Das, who shared the vision behind the venture: affordable, high-frequency flights connecting underserved Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

India has over 450 airstrips, yet only 150 currently support commercial flights. LAT Aerospace plans to tap into this latent infrastructure by introducing 15–20-seater aircraft that operate from compact “air-stops” — small landing hubs no bigger than a parking lot. These hubs would be built closer to residential areas, eliminating long commutes, security queues, and airport chaos.

The initiative could redefine mobility for millions who rely on road or rail for long-distance travel. While regulatory and technological hurdles remain, LAT Aerospace signals a bold shift in how India might fly — turning regional aviation into a daily convenience rather than a luxury.

There is no doubt with increased air connectivity will come the rise in property prices of small cities as well as these regions gaining traction among both developers and investors.
