Havells ADEX 4th Episode Had Ar Madhav Raman’s Talk on “Design for the Proto-City: Disaggregation of the Future

Havells Insignia ADEX series organised by Realty+ Masterclass featured its fourth episode on July 22, 2021 with Architect & Urbanist Madhav Raman, Principal & Co-Founder, Anagram Architects highlighting the importance of integration of architecture, technology and changing lifestyles to create contextual and meaningful designs that were sustainable in the long run. According to Ar. Raman urban development in India needs to be relooked and the pockets of unplanned semi urban areas within the city should be integrated within the development by the planning authorities. This calls for disaggregation or detailed observation at micro as well as macro level of city growth. He added, “While in West technology has been led by innovations in materials. In India the communication and entertainment is leading the technology breakthrough. ”The three sustainable technology trends in Indian architecture will be technology for water efficiency & sanitation, energy-efficient technologies and online communication. These will drive innovations in building and construction segment,” he said. Ar Raman was of the view that Artificial Intelligence enabled Smart technologies that need minimum human intervention for asset management, space usage and optimization of resources like energy and water consumption will be the future of built spaces. “Covid has fast forward the trends like WFH that were there in the offing. Most importantly it has changed our way of looking at spaces and its functions. People have now discovered new uses of the same space. So, this is an exciting times for us as designers,” he added. Vivek Yadav, Senior Vice President, Havells India Limited appreciated Ar. Raman’s diversity of projects with a purpose and agreed that there were a lot of changes happening in people’s lifestyle influencing the space design and also creating an opportunity for innovation. In conversation with Ar Raman, he added that as solution providers they were keen to work with specifiers and influencers to come up with best technological products for the present and future needs.
