U-Sphere, a subsidiary of the Uralungal Labour Contract Co-operative Society (ULCCS), has announced the appointment of Biju Mahima as its new Chief Executive Officer. This strategic leadership change comes at a critical time as the company gears up to expand its footprint in smart, sustainable infrastructure development across India and select global markets.
With a career spanning over three decades, Biju Mahima brings a unique blend of technical expertise, strategic vision, and global perspective to U-Sphere. His extensive background in construction, infrastructure, and engineering includes high-impact projects in both India and the Middle East. Known for his focus on execution excellence and innovation, Mahima has successfully delivered large-scale infrastructure assets in sectors ranging from IT parks to integrated industrial zones.
Prior to joining U-Sphere, Mahima held leadership positions at industry giants such as Jindal Steel & Power and LULU Infra Build. At the latter, he led the development of the Rs 15 billion Lulu IT Park in Cochin — one of Kerala’s flagship infrastructure projects. His international experience includes key engineering and management roles at Emirates Engineering Services in the UAE and Al Zamil Industries in Saudi Arabia. These assignments helped him build a nuanced understanding of global best practices in project execution, sustainability integration, and cross-cultural team leadership.
A graduate of the Indian Engineering Services (IES), Mahima also holds advanced degrees from prestigious institutions such as XLRI Jamshedpur, the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Calicut, and MACE, Kerala.
Commenting on his new role, Mahima stated, “My vision is to lead U-Sphere in redefining infrastructure through the ‘Speed-Build’, ‘Smart-Build’, and ‘Sustain-Build’ frameworks. The future demands faster, more intelligent, and environmentally responsible construction, and U-Sphere is poised to deliver on all three fronts.”
Under Mahima’s leadership, U-Sphere is expected to accelerate its mission of providing integrated, future-ready building solutions that prioritize sustainability, technology adoption, and community impact. His appointment signals a commitment to not only executing large-scale infrastructure projects but also doing so in a way that is aligned with global environmental goals and local community development.
ULCCS Chairman Rameshan Paleri welcomed the appointment, saying, “Biju Mahima’s global experience, deep sectoral knowledge, and passion for innovation make him the ideal leader to guide U-Sphere through its next phase of growth. His leadership will help us stay ahead of the curve in an increasingly competitive and evolving infrastructure landscape.”
