Stepping into a family business often means balancing what has stood the test of time with what the future demands. When Anuj Khetan returned to Mumbai to join the business founded by his father, he chose not to disrupt what had worked for decades. Instead, he set out to build on it. The relationships and instincts that had shaped the company remained its greatest strength, but Anuj believed the next phase of growth would be driven by data, discipline and robust systems. "Choosing to modernise without disrupting what already worked, honouring the past while preparing for the future, shaped how I lead today," Anuj says. Experience has also changed the way he thinks about growth. Five years ago, he believed success came from moving faster and taking on more. Today, he believes lasting growth comes from restraint, structure and the discipline to walk away from the wrong opportunities. Strong processes and reporting, he says, are what allow businesses to grow without losing their balance. Anuj sees immense potential for artificial intelligence to help the real estate sector make better decisions, earlier and more efficiently. But he believes technology alone cannot transform a business. Unless it changes the way teams work on the ground, it remains an investment without real impact.
