Founded on the belief that furniture is more than functional design, UCUORO redefines luxury by focusing on stillness, depth, and emotional resonance. Its first public presence in India, the Salone, offers curated, bi-weekly gatherings open only by invitation. These experiences are designed to foster slow, intentional engagement between guest and space, object and emotion - challenging the transactional nature of typical design showrooms.
The brand’s founder, Unnati Varma, explains this philosophy: “We didn’t create UCUORO to fill a showroom, we created it to fill a void. For too long, design in India has been loud in form but quiet in feeling. The Salone is our way of reversing that - of creating a space where furniture speaks in whispers, where design doesn’t perform, it pauses. It is not about exclusivity, it is about presence - about making space for stillness, for slowness, for stories that take their time to unfold.
The eight original collections, include limited-edition and numbered pieces. Among them was Reverie, a sculptural piece that evokes the lightness of floating balloons while integrating structural integrity and comfort. Crafted by master artisans — woodworkers from Rajasthan and metal sculptors from Moradabad — each piece reflects the brand’s commitment to India’s heritage of craftsmanship, while pushing the boundaries of contemporary design.
UCUORO’s design philosophy resists spectacle in favor of introspection. Every element within the Salone is placed deliberately within spatial compositions and narrative vignettes — encouraging visitors to pause, reflect, and connect. The brand’s “Me, We, Us” spatial ethos fosters a balance between private emotion and shared experience, offering a space where luxury is not displayed, but lived.
Mumbai’s dual nature — creative yet chaotic, aspirational yet grounded — aligns with the brand’s view that true design emerges from contradiction. The appointment-only model invites collectors, architects, and design enthusiasts to engage with the work in a more thoughtful, human-centric way.
Technology plays a supporting role. Augmented reality tools and digital interfaces allow clients to visualise and customise pieces in their own spaces, while AI-driven prototyping aids creative development. Despite these tools, UCUORO remains firmly rooted in handcrafted production and emotional storytelling.
