About 50,000 commercial units yet to pay property tax in Indore
Around 50,000 commercial establishments of city are yet to open their property tax accounts with Indore Municipal Corporation, which is a loss of around 50 per cent of revenue to civic body under the head. According to IMC officials, there are around 1 lakh commercial establishments in city and of them, only about 50 per cent have their property tax accounts with civic body. During a meeting to review revenue collection, IMC commissioner Asheesh Singh on Saturday asked officials to approach the defaulting commercial establishments and ask them to clear dues by opening property tax accounts with civic body. During the meet, commissioner set a target of recovering Rs3-4 crore of revenue in last month of this financial year. He asked all zone officials and assistant revenue officials to pay attention to commercial establishments and recover at least 20 per cent of property tax from them on commercial rate.
