After making its collectorate and sub-division paperless by developing e-offices, the Saharsa district administration has launched a new mobile application for measurement of land for sale, purchase or to identify parts of land under encroachment.
This measure is aimed at checking land disputes, a major issue often leading to scuffle and even violence and also creating a centralised system for land measurement, making it easer for government officials to manage a centralised data of land with the government. Launched a month ago in Kehra circle under Saharsa Sadar sub division, the initiative showed good response and now the administration is planning to implement it in all other nine revenue circles of this district of Kosi region.
The new app- Saharsa Bhu Mapi-could be downloaded from Google Playstore for use for further processing. Saharsa DM Anand Sharma said, “The new initiative is aimed at checking the number of land disputes which often created law and order problems as the online measurement would have transparency and authencity and also check corrupt practices in the name of facilitating public work.”
About 200 complaints of land disputes come up at the weekly DM’s janta darbar while hundred of others were reported from gram kachhari of 135 panchayats in the subdivisions. The number of new land registrations was also high in the district, Sharma said.
