The renewable energy arm of the NTPC Ltd, NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL), said it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Industries, Government of Bihar, to promote renewable energy initiatives in the state.
The agreement was formalised during the “Bihar Business Connect 2024” Global Investors’ Summit held in Patna on December 20, 2024. The partnership aims to develop ground-mounted and floating solar installations, battery energy storage systems, and green hydrogen mobility initiatives in Bihar. "The MoU outlines a framework for significant investments in Bihar to establish renewable energy projects, including ground-mounted and floating solar installations, battery energy storage systems, and Green hydrogen mobility initiatives, etc." NTPC Green Energy said in a regulatory filing.
The state government will assist by facilitating permissions, registrations, approvals, and clearances to ensure smooth project implementation. NTPC Green Energy is the largest renewable energy public sector enterprise (excluding hydro energy) in terms of operating capacity as of September 24 and power generation as of March 2024.
The company’s renewable energy portfolio includes both solar and wind power assets with a presence across multiple locations in more than 6 states which helps in mitigating the risk of location-specific generation variability.
