Studio HBA, part of Hirsch Bedner Associates, has announced the appointment of Amit Gupta as Design Director in its Mumbai studio. An accomplished architect, educator, and urbanist, Gupta brings over 22 years of diverse experience across India, the UK, Europe, and the Middle East.
Gupta has led projects ranging from large-scale masterplans and high-rise commercial towers to institutional campuses, hospitality environments, mixed-use developments, and adaptive residential designs. His appointment is expected to significantly expand Studio HBA’s portfolio and reinforce its reputation for design excellence.
Sharing his design philosophy, Amit Gupta said: “Architecture, to me, lives in the intersections: where human experience, ecological intelligence, and technological evolution converge. It is within these intersections that truly adaptive, meaningful, and future-ready environments emerge.”
Prior to joining HBA, Gupta collaborated with globally respected firms such as Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, ARCOP, and The Guild of Architects. He also founded and led ARIA (Architectural Research & Innovation Atelier), focusing on urban intelligence and computational methodologies.
Beyond practice, Gupta has contributed extensively to architectural education. He served as Design Director for the Third-Year B.Arch Studio at Sushant School of Architecture and continues to be an active jury member at leading architecture schools across India.
With his appointment, Studio HBA strengthens its leadership team and underscores its commitment to creating adaptive, future-ready environments that blend innovation, sustainability, and human experience.
