Netflix has selected Hyderabad as the site for its second office in India, following its first in Mumbai. The global streaming platform has leased a 41,000-square-foot space in at CapitaLand ITPH, Block A, in HITEC City to house the new office. The new workspace, shared with industry peer Warner Bros. Discovery, places Netflix at the heart of Hyderabad’s fast-rising global business and media corridor.
The city has emerged as one of India’s most powerful engines of global capability, now home to more than 355 Global Capability Centers (GCCs) employing over 300,000 professionals. That accounts for nearly 15% of India’s total GCC presence, a remarkable feat for a city once known primarily for its IT and pharmaceutical industries.
A Strategic Bet on India’s Creative Capital
Netflix’s decision to set up its first major base in Hyderabad is seen as a calculated step to deepen its local presence in content production, post-production, and regional operations. With India continuing to be one of Netflix’s fastest-growing markets, the move signals a long-term commitment to tapping into Hyderabad’s creative, technical, and digital expertise.
The city has rapidly become a preferred destination for multinational corporations, thanks to a combination of factors: a deep talent pool, competitive operational costs, reliable infrastructure, and strong policy support from the Telangana government. Initiatives such as the ICT Policy and TS-iPASS have made business setup faster and more transparent, making Hyderabad a magnet for global enterprises across sectors.
A Record Year for Hyderabad’s GCC Growth
The year 2025 has been a landmark one for Hyderabad’s global standing. Over a dozen international giants, including Eli Lilly, Vanguard, T-Mobile, McDonald’s, Johnson & Johnson, P&G, Marriott, and Heineken have either set up or expanded their global centers here. Together, they represent a massive wave of foreign investment and confidence in the city’s potential as a global business hub.
What began as a technology-driven ecosystem has now diversified into industries such as pharmaceuticals, automotive, hospitality, and finance. With Netflix’s arrival, Hyderabad’s media and entertainment credentials are receiving global validation, creating synergies between film, OTT, and digital production industries.
A New Chapter for Media-Tech in India
Industry observers believe Netflix’s Hyderabad presence will create new opportunities for collaboration with local production houses, animation and VFX studios, and post-production specialists. Hyderabad is already home to some of India’s top visual effects and gaming companies, making it an ideal base for a streaming company expanding its original content portfolio in South Asia.
By operating alongside Warner Bros. Discovery in the same complex, Netflix is positioning itself at the intersection of media and technology, an area where Hyderabad is fast establishing an edge. The clustering of major entertainment companies could spark a new phase of creative innovation in India’s south, similar to the way Mumbai evolved into the country’s film capital decades ago.
Hyderabad’s Rise as a Global Innovation Powerhouse
The influx of global corporations has reshaped Hyderabad’s identity, from a cost-effective operations hub to a center of strategic innovation. The city’s GCCs are no longer just back-end offices but are now driving core global business, technology, and R&D functions.
Netflix’s entry not only reaffirms Hyderabad’s position on the global map but also broadens its creative horizon. As entertainment, technology, and storytelling converge, Hyderabad stands poised to become the creative capital of India’s digital future — a city where global stories may soon begin to take shape.
