Saudi Arabia’s Warehouse Market Set to Hit $611 Million by 2035

Saudi Arabia’s logistics transformation is creating demand for infrastructure that extends beyond roads, ports and distribution centres. Inside warehouses, another change is underway: the shift towards smarter, denser and more efficient storage systems. As businesses handle larger inventories and faster delivery cycles, warehouse racking is emerging as an important component of the Kingdom’s evolving supply chain infrastructure.

According to Dimension Market Research, Saudi Arabia’s warehouse racking market is projected to grow from $339.3 million in 2026 to $610.8 million by 2035, registering a compound annual growth rate of 7.6%. The expansion reflects rising investment in logistics, organised retail, e-commerce fulfilment and industrial storage, supported by the country’s Vision 2030 development agenda.

Warehouse racking systems help businesses organise goods, maximise vertical space and improve inventory accessibility. Their importance is increasing as operators seek to accommodate expanding product ranges without compromising storage efficiency or order processing speeds.

The scale of Saudi Arabia’s existing warehousing network provides a foundation for this growth. According to the General Authority for Statistics, the Kingdom has more than 12,000 warehouses covering over 22 million square metres of storage space. Annual delivery volumes have exceeded 290 million shipments, with growth of more than 27%, intensifying the need for efficient inventory management. Riyadh accounts for over 55% of the country’s warehouses, making it a central market for storage infrastructure.

Retail and E-commerce Shape Storage Demand
The expansion of organised retail and online shopping is influencing the types of racking systems businesses require. Retail is expected to account for 24% of the warehouse racking market in 2026, making it the leading application segment.

Distribution centres must accommodate diverse stock-keeping units, maintain accurate inventory records and facilitate quick access to products. These requirements are supporting demand for selective pallet racking, which is expected to capture 44% of the product segment in 2026.

Its appeal lies in flexibility and relatively straightforward access to individual pallets. For retailers, e-commerce operators and third-party logistics providers, this arrangement helps manage varied inventories and adapt to changing fulfilment requirements.

Medium-duty racking systems, designed to carry between 500 and 1,500 kilograms, are expected to hold 47% of the market by carrying capacity in 2026. Their versatility makes them suitable for retail distribution, e-commerce and logistics operations. Heavy-duty systems, meanwhile, cater to industrial facilities handling heavier goods, including machinery and automotive components.

Automation Moves Beyond Storage
The next phase of warehouse development will depend increasingly on technology. Warehouse operators are integrating storage infrastructure with warehouse management systems, electronic inventory tracking and automated material handling equipment.

Artificial intelligence is adding another layer to this transition. AI-enabled systems can support real-time inventory monitoring, demand forecasting and more efficient use of available space. When combined with robotics and automated storage and retrieval systems, these technologies can improve picking accuracy, reduce operational errors and accelerate warehouse processes.

For businesses managing high shipment volumes, such capabilities can influence both operating costs and service reliability. However, adoption comes with a financial hurdle. Racking installations require upfront spending on steel structures, warehouse design and installation, while automation demands additional investment. Smaller businesses may find these costs difficult to absorb. Volatile steel prices also complicate project budgeting and pricing decisions.

Cold Chain Creates New Opportunities
Cold storage is another area shaping demand. Food and beverage distribution, alongside pharmaceutical logistics, requires storage systems designed for temperature-controlled environments and efficient handling of perishable products.

High-density configurations, including drive-in and pallet-flow racking, can help operators maximise space in facilities where maintaining temperature conditions is expensive. As cold-chain networks expand, specialised storage infrastructure is likely to become more important to warehouse planning.

Supply chain uncertainty is also encouraging companies to reconsider inventory strategies. The source report identifies geopolitical tensions and shipping disruptions as factors prompting businesses in Saudi Arabia to stockpile goods and strengthen domestic warehousing capacity. This could support investment in additional storage space and systems that allow inventories to be managed efficiently.

Competition Centres on Efficiency
The market includes international technology providers and domestic manufacturers competing on price, customisation and operational performance. Local companies offer storage solutions suited to regional requirements, while global players bring expertise in automation and advanced warehouse systems.

The competitive landscape remains fragmented, creating opportunities for providers that can deliver adaptable solutions without making projects prohibitively expensive.

By 2035, the Kingdom’s warehouse racking market is expected to reflect broader changes in how goods are stored, tracked and distributed. Vision 2030, rising e-commerce activity, industrial expansion and cold-chain requirements are likely to sustain demand. The central challenge for businesses will be balancing investment costs with the efficiency gains offered by modern storage systems.

For Saudi Arabia’s logistics ambitions, warehouses are no longer simply places to hold inventory. They are becoming increasingly technology-enabled facilities, with storage design playing a direct role in the speed, accuracy and resilience of the supply chain.
