The moments that shaped Incia Gupte's career were not the ones that made headlines. They were the quieter ones, when she was the only woman in the room, when her ideas were heard only after someone else repeated them, or when she was underestimated before she had even spoken. Rather than letting those experiences define her, she chose to let her work do the talking. "I stopped waiting for permission to be heard. Preparation became my voice," she says. "Leadership isn't about speaking the loudest. It's about bringing substance to the table." That philosophy continues to guide her leadership.
Incia believes credibility is built through diligence, while empathy and transparency are strengths, not compromises. During periods of uncertainty, she found that admitting what she didn't know earned more trust than pretending to have every answer. She acknowledgesthat women have greater access to leadership today, but believes the challenges have simply evolved. The need to constantly prove credibility, navigate unconscious bias and break into informal networks remains very real. Yet, she resists the idea that women bringa different perspective simply because they are women. "People who've had to navigate systems that weren't built forthem notice blind spots others don't. Diversity matters because it challenges default thinking. That's what leads to better decisions."
