Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in Ahmedabad has commissioned a new Integrated Cargo Terminal (ICT), expanding its annual handling capacity from 50,000 metric tonnes to 200,000 metric tonnes.
Spread across 20,000 sq m, the terminal is equipped with modern systems including CCTV surveillance, access control, automated screening, Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), handheld terminals, and barcode tracking for real-time visibility of consignments.
A dedicated cold-chain zone has been introduced to support temperature-sensitive goods, alongside features such as ball transfer decking, high dock counts, and automated handling equipment to improve efficiency during peak operations.
The ICT will serve a wide cargo mix, ranging from e-commerce, automotive parts, garments, engineering goods, and pharmaceuticals to perishables and high-value consignments such as electronics, oversized equipment, and live animals.
Airport operator Ahmedabad International Airport Limited (AIAL), part of Adani Airport Holdings Limited, said the facility will strengthen supply chain reliability for industries in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
SVPI Airport, spread over 987 acres, is Gujarat’s busiest aviation hub, handling 13.3 million passengers and around 280 daily air traffic movements in FY 2024–25.
