The Central Government has given preliminary nod for the development of two new townships in Uttarakhand. The first one out of the two new townships is located in Param Farm area in Udham Singh Nagar. Other one is an integrated township in Doiwala which falls on the outskirts of Dehradun. An on-site assessment of both the locations is expected to take place in future, by Central Government.
Previously the State Government had submitted a proposal to central government worth Rs 1,100 crore for the development of the two townships. The objective of setting up township in Param Farm is to transform it into an industrial hub, in order to attract an investment value of Rs 10,000 crs. The township will generate employment for thousands of locals.
On the other hand, keeping in mind the proximity to the airport, the idea of setting up an integrated area township in Daiwala has been put forward. The projects are still in their early stages. Once the Central team visits the location and conducts their assessments, further progress will be made said Anand Bardhan, Additional Chief Secretary.
Also, the State Government has proposed to develop six more townships. Film City in Pittoragarh. A Doon Twin City in Dehradun. A Cyber City in Dehradun’s Sahaspur Area. A Wellness Township in Gauchar. A Haldwani twin city in Gaulapur. A tourism township in Ramnagar.
Ten locations were finalized for consideration out of the 20 initially identified locations. Out of those 10 locations, plans and concepts for eight locations were finalized, while expects are still working on the remaining two projects.
