The Gujarat Government approved five town planning (TP) schemes for cities of Ahmedabad and Surat. While for TP schemes have been cleared for Ahmedabad one has been approved for Surat.
The schemes cleared for Ahmedabad include one final TP scheme, one draft TP scheme and two preliminary TP schemes. One preliminary TP schemes has been cleared for Surat.
These areas in Ahmedabad and Surat will witness rapid development as the urban bodies begin providing infrastructure such as roads and drainage. A provision has been made to construct 10,900 housing units for economically weaker sections (EWS). In all, 69.41 hectares will be made available.
The draft TP scheme which will be cleared for Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority is TP Scheme No.413 (Enasan- Muthiya- Bilasiya). The final TP scheme which has received clearance is TP Scheme No.54 (Ognaj). The two preliminary TP schemes which have been cleared for Ahmedabad are TP scheme No.68 (Kotarpur) and TP scheme No. 35 (Jagatpur).
