WeWork India Debuts In Chennai With Launch Of Its First Building

India’s largest flexible workspace provider - WeWork India - marked its entry in Chennai, with the opening of Olympia Cyberspace in Guindy. Olympia Cyberspace is located at the entry point to Central Chennai, between Guindy and Saidapet. Spanning across 130,000+ sq. ft. of space and 2,000 seats across two floors, this is WeWork India’s 55th building in the country.

Over the past seven years, WeWork India has steadily built its presence across 8 cities, with over 90,000+ desks and over 70,000+ members. Their long-term sustainable expansion is indicative of the growing demand for flexible workspaces in India, and WeWork India's commitment towards meeting the rising demand.

Chennai is currently experiencing a surge in demand for flexible workspaces, fueled by the emergence of fast-growing micro-markets like Old Mahabalipuram Road and Porur. At Olympia Cyberspace, the dynamic workspace includes state-of-the-art amenities like event spaces, wellness rooms, F&B markets, and quiet spaces among others. The central location provides easy access to major transportation hubs. Prominent landmarks such as Guindy metro & railway station, Saidapet metro station, Madras Gymkhana Golf Annexe, Guindy National Park, Hilton Chennai, and Madras Race Club, are all located within a radius of five to six kilometers. Furthermore, this opening is a step towards redefining the future of work and supporting the rapidly evolving business community in Chennai.

Talking about their maiden opening in Chennai, Karan Virwani, CEO, WeWork India, said, “WeWork Olympia Cyberspace marks a pivotal moment in our expansion across south India.  This strategic entry underscores the immense potential of Chennai's talent pool, robust IT sector, and flourishing manufacturing base. We have already signed a range of members, such as Wheelocity Fresh Pvt Ltd, Molex India Pvt Ltd, Dr. Wamser + Batra India Pvt Ltd, and H2O LLC, and this indicates the significant demand for workspace solutions. We're building for India, and Chennai's dynamic ecosystem perfectly aligns with our vision of empowering businesses of all sizes, from budding startups to established global hubs. We are committed to fostering innovation and growth across the country, by providing flexible, inspiring workspaces and a comprehensive suite of services. We're confident that WeWork Olympia Cyberspace will be a key player in shaping the future of work in Chennai.”

As a rapidly growing economic hub in South India, Chennai has emerged as a thriving business landscape among freelancers, entrepreneurs, enterprises as well as Global Capability Centres. There is a strong demand being witnessed from various industries including agri-tech, manufacturing, IT/ITES/ HR, among others. With the opening of Olympia Cyberspace, WeWork India aims to provide innovative and collaborative work environments to meet the rising demand for flexible workspace solutions.

WeWork India’s ongoing expansion across cities further underscores its reliability as a brand, and commitment towards building robust relationships with key stakeholders such as landlords, IPCs, and members. With solutions for all kinds of businesses - solopreneurs to startups to Fortune 500 companies - WeWork India is at the forefront of the flexible workspace industry, and Chennai is poised to benefit from their entry into the market.
